Last year, Rotor and Wing assisted in the organization and staging of several airshows in the region, including the Sport Aviation Association Fly-in at Frasca Field in Urbana, Illinois, as well as those held at Mt. Vernon, Harrisburg and Williamson County Airports. Rotor and Wing airshow day responsibilities include fueling, aircraft movement and parking, crowd control, security, ramp supervision, and ensurance of FAA regulation compliance; a great deal of responsibility which these students accept as volunteers donating many hours of personal time. The 2004 Southern Illinois Airshow, which AvTech’s Rotor&Winger’s will again help coordinate and execute, is scheduled for September 11th and 12th. Confirmed performers include Dave Dacy Airshows, Skip Stewart and Earthquake II. As at last year’s show, food and beverage concessions, aircraft static displays, and aircraft rides will be available to the public.
