Dr. Patrick Rivers, Health Care Management Program Director and Associate Professor in the SIUC College of Applied Sciences and Arts, has been named to a fellowship with the Commission on Education for Health Services Administration, a national accrediting commission of the U.S. Department of Education. The commission is the professionally recognized accreditation body for master's level health administration programs at institutions of higher education in the United States and Canada. “The accreditation program is designed to foster high quality professional education with respect to the administration of hospital, clinics and other health care facilities,” Rivers said. “Graduates of accredited programs also work in such areas as health planning and evaluation and health policy.” According to CASA Dean Paul D. Sarvela, the fellowship will provide invaluable
opportunities for Professor Rivers to work with renowned practitioners
and academicians who serve as commissioners for some of the most significant
organizations in the health care industry.
